On September 1, 2022, Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was almost assassinated by a gun point-blank while arriving home. However, the gun jammed instead of firing, leaving Fernandez de Kirchner safe from harm. The non-blood-related President of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, said, "didn't fire even though the trigger was pulled."
The Argentinian police have not found a motivation, but it is suspected that he is a nazi. Some on the Argentinian left have condemned the Argentinian right saying their words motivated the gunman to go through with the assassination.
