Biden Gets Weed Bill From Congress

On November 15, 2022, Congress sent US president Joe Biden a bill that is said to legalize medicinal weed for research purposes. It was a unanimous vote from congress to pass the bill to Biden. It was agreed that more research on the benefits and consequences to see if it can be used as medicine under controlled amounts.

In the hearing, the points that cannabis would benefit many communities, incorporate reforms in several sectors (including taxation and criminal justice, just to name a few), and the ability to regulate the drug were made.

Republican senator Chuck Grassley said, "Since 2015, I’ve pushed to expand medical research into marijuana derivatives such as cannabidiol to better understand their benefits and potential harms."

Democratic senator Dianne Feinstein added, "We know that cannabidiol-derived medications can be effective for conditions like epilepsy. This bill will help refine current medical CBD practices and develop important new applications. After years of negotiation, I’m delighted that we’re finally enacting this bill that will result in critical research that could help millions."

The two senators were part of a triad of senators who introduced the bill to the Senate and sponsored the bill.

We await further news.
